Katt Williams

American Katt Williams is a 51-year-old stand-up comedian and actor born in Cincinnati, Ohio. A bit of a rebel from a young age, he emancipated himself from his parents at the age of thirteen and went to Florida to work as a street vendor. He started stand-up comedy in Cincinnati, and by 1999, he was considered to be an established comedian, appearing on stage at venues like The Improv, The Ice House, The Comedy Club and The Hollywood Park Casino. To some, he is most well-known for appearing on BET’s Comic View as Katt “In the Hat” Williams.

His first comedy special, Katt Williams: Live: Let a Playa Play was in 2006 and his first comedy special on HBO, The Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1. was also in 2006. The following year, he was offered a movie/stand-up, which he named American Hustle, and it went on to receive the critical success that established Williams as a mainstream comedian. In 2008 he released his second comedy special for HBO, which included political content, called It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’. Williams continued to stay busy by touring and releasing comedy DVDs. His tour was named The Best of 2008 by Billboard.

Katt Williams took a four-year hiatus, and in 2012, he returned to stand-up with his third HBO comedy special, Kattpacalypse. A day after he was involved in a bizarre incident at a bar that landed Williams in jail, he announced his retirement from his stand-up comedy career, but three days later, he surprised fans by announcing that he was coming out of retirement. Later during the following year, he launched his Growth Spurt Tour, and in 2014, he returned with yet another HBO special, Katt Williams: Priceless: Afterlife, which was directed by Spike Lee.

In 2015 Williams did another tour named Conspiracy Theory, which he felt was one of his finest works since it covered a collection of forbidden topics that just can’t seem to get answered. He has since released two Netflix specials in 2018, titled Great America, and in 2022, titled World War III.
